Umami Foods Canada, located at 1181 Denison Street, Unit 12, Markham, Ontario is looking for a full-time Wholesale Food Buyer.

Salary: $37.00 per hour for 35 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS;

·         Minimum of two (2) years of procurement experience at food wholesaler or restaurant.

·         Demonstrated experience sourcing high quality fish and fish products.

·         Working knowledge of import/export procedures and logistics coordination is an asset.

·         Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.

·         Must have in depth background knowledge of fish and fish related products.

·         Knowledge of Japanese food products and cooking method is an asset.

JOB DUTIES;

·         Purchase high quality fish/fish products and Japanese food products.

·         Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable manufacturers, wholesalers, and vendors.

·         Negotiate the best possible prices, discounts, credit terms, and delivery schedules while adhering to budget constraints.

·         Monitor stock levels and forecast demand to determine the quantity and types of merchandise that need to be reordered.

·         Study trade reports, analyze sales trends, and attend trade shows to select merchandise that fits organizational needs.

·         Ensure all delivered goods meet the company’s quality and safety standards.

·         Coordinate shipping, transportation, and storage/warehousing of bulk purchases.
