ISSHIN SUSHI LTD. (DBA Isshin Sushi Bar & Asian Dining) is a local favorite, taste the best specializes in authentic Japanese Sushi restaurant located at downtown area in Penticton. We use only the freshest ingredients that we can find. We are looking for a cook to join our busy restaurant to ensure all daily activities run smoothly and efficiently. To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with restaurant operations and have a good understanding of what makes great customer service. You should also be available to work within opening hours, including weekends and holidays.

Job Responsibilities:

Expertly cut, slice and fillet different types of fish and meat
Inspect the quality of vegetables, fruits and fish used to prepare sushi dishes
Create rich menu with various ingredients, for example: salmon, tuna, beef, pork, etc.
Recommend new and innovative additions to the menu
Prepare various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety
Prepare various non-sushi dishes such as: soups, salad, noodles, appetizer, rice dishes, etc.
Manage and review storage of fruits, vegetables, and meat such as crab, eel, salmon, tuna, beef, etc., place order for restock as needed
Instruct and coordinate with kitchen staff to fulfill food orders
Train and guide new kitchen staff if needed
Communicate any kitchen issues to the Restaurant Supervisor
Maintain a clean work environment to ensure food safety standards are met
Skills & Employment requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required
1 year of commercial cooking experience is required
Experience with Japanese cuisine is an asset, training will be provided
Available to work daytime, evenings, and weekends as required
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Highly responsible & reliable individual with some creative qualities
