Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler, BC is currently looking for a Building Superintendent to join our team.
Reports To – Director of Facilities
Position Summary
The Building Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department through the upkeep, repair, maintenance, and overall presentation of the property. This includes guest rooms, public spaces, administrative offices, food & beverage outlets, staff housing, spa facilities, pools, and exterior areas.
The Building Superintendent performs routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance repairs to support the safe, efficient, and professional operation of the hotel.
Main Job Duties
· Maintain a professional, safe, and service-oriented approach while carrying out maintenance activities.
· Safely maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotel, including repairs related to: Mechanical systems, Electrical systems, Plumbing, Basic drywall repair, Painting, Furniture repairs, Exterior cleaning, Snow removal, Pressure washing, and Drain cleaning.
· Complete maintenance tasks, work orders, and special projects in a timely and organized manner.
· Conduct regular property walkthroughs, inspections, and preventative maintenance checks while communicating concerns or deficiencies to the Engineering leadership team.
· Support the maintenance and upkeep of staff housing facilities, including troubleshooting and repairs as required.
· Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests while ensuring exceptional guest service standards are maintained.
· Maintain accurate records related to repairs, maintenance activities, equipment servicing, and preventative maintenance.
· Support the operation, chemical balancing, cleaning, and maintenance of pools and spa equipment while maintaining required records and safety standards.
· Prioritize daily maintenance requests and ensure work orders are updated and closed out with clear and detailed notes.
· Support property operations during the absence of Engineering leadership by following established emergency procedures and operational protocols.
· Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within all mechanical rooms, plant spaces, workshops, and storage areas.
· Follow preventative maintenance schedules and operational procedures while reporting concerns, deficiencies, or safety hazards appropriately.
· Assist with inventory management of tools, parts, equipment, chemicals, and maintenance supplies.
· Maintain strong communication and collaboration with all departments, particularly Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Spa operations.
· Perform physical duties including standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing ladders, lifting, carrying, and reaching overhead.
· Follow all workplace safety procedures, WorkSafeBC regulations, safe work practices, and hotel health & safety policies.
· Identify and communicate safety concerns, hazards, maintenance risks, or operational deficiencies promptly.
· Support environmental and sustainability initiatives established by the hotel and Engineering leadership team.
· Maintain WHMIS certification and safely handle chemicals, equipment, and maintenance materials.
· Supervise other building maintenance workers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
· Completion of secondary school is required.
· A minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience in a hotel, resort, commercial building, or similar environment is required.
· Valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is required.
· Both written and oral English skills are required.
· Experience with boilers, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, pools, and mechanical equipment is considered an asset.
· Technical training in a trade or related maintenance field is considered an asset.
Pool Operator Level 1 certification is considered an asset.
Strong working knowledge of general building maintenance systems and operations.
· Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
· Positive attitude with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance operations.
· Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
· Commitment to delivering a high level of guest service and maintaining professional standards.
· Flexible schedule availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations as required.

Wage: $28.85 per hour
Work Hours: 32-40 hours per week
Vacation: 4% vacation accrual
