Job Title: Residential Floor and Wall Covering Installer
SBUDDY Home Renovation is seeking an experienced Residential Floor and Wall Covering Installer for residential renovation projects. The successful candidate will prepare surfaces, install flooring and related wall finishes, and complete detailed finishing work while maintaining a clean and organized job site.
Key Responsibilities
Read work orders, drawings, and installation specifications to determine project requirements.
Measure rooms, calculate material quantities, and plan layouts to minimize waste and achieve consistent finishes.
Remove existing flooring, underlay, baseboards, and affected coverings; prepare debris for disposal.
Inspect subfloors and installation surfaces for moisture, damage, unevenness, and suitability.
Clean, patch, sand, and level surfaces before installation.
Install underlay, moisture barriers, and compatible sound-control materials according to project specifications.
Measure, cut, and install vinyl plank, laminate, hardwood, engineered wood, carpet, and resilient floor coverings, according to experience and assigned work.
Fit flooring around cabinets, doorways, floor vents, pipes, and other obstructions.
Install stair treads, risers, nosings, transitions, thresholds, and related finishing components.
Install decorative wall panels and wall-covering products within the worker’s training and the manufacturer’s specifications.
Install or reinstall baseboards, shoe mouldings, and finishing trims.
Repair or replace damaged flooring and correct installation deficiencies.
Use adhesives, fasteners, and installation tools appropriate to each material.
Protect customers’ property and maintain clean, safe work areas.
Coordinate with carpenters and other trades to meet project schedules.
Inspect completed work for alignment, secure attachment, and finish quality.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience installing residential flooring and preparing subfloors.
Knowledge of flooring materials, adhesives, underlayments, and installation methods.
Ability to take accurate measurements and use hand and power tools safely.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a renovation team.
Ability to communicate work instructions, safety concerns, and project updates in English.
Ability to perform physical work, including lifting materials, kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Reliable transportation to project sites throughout Greater Vancouver.
Trade certification or apprenticeship training is an asset.
Working Conditions
Work in occupied homes and active renovation sites.
Travel between project locations as required.
Exposure to construction dust, noise, and adhesives, with appropriate protective equipment.
