Responsibilities
Tasks

May perform a variety of office management and administrative tasks
Conduct testing and perform quality and safety checks
Coordinate activities with other work units or departments
Set task priorities, ensure procedures are followed, and that deadlines are met
Recommend corrective or enforcement actions
Ensure procedures are applied in accordance with laws and regulations
Supervise, coordinate, and schedule (and possibly review) workers’ activities
Lead laboratory practical sessions
Provide training to staff
Review and revise to ensure compliance with standards and procedures
Verify that data are accurate and complete

Required skills

Required skills: • Extensive hands on experience with laboratory animals, including rodents, dogs, mini-pigs and/or non human primates. • Strong background in animal procedures, dosing (SC, PO, IV, IM, IP), sample collection, clinical observations, necropsy, and colony management. • Previous experience acting as a senior technician, group leader, or informal trainer/mentor. • Good knowledge of SOPs related to: GLP , Animal Care and Welfare , Health and Safety and Toxicology operations • 5 to 10 years of experience working in regulated research or toxicology environments (CRO or academic research settings). • Ability to evaluate technical competency and provide constructive coaching. • Comfortable working with training documentation and electronic quality systems (Montrium or similar an asset). • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. • Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate with management and training teams.

Education Requirement

College or University degree in Animal Science / Animal Husbandry or equivalent scientific training.
